OVER 45s JOB CLUB

The purpose of the over 45s International Job Club is to help those seeking a regular job to obtain an interview (and hopefully a job), but to also help those who are considering setting up their own business and working for themselves.

Having experienced the difficulty in finding normal work once I passed the age of 50, I can appreciate the frustration others have faced with potential employers. We all know that age should not be a factor and that it is illegal to discriminate against us, but in reality it frequently happens. Job Centres are keen to tell us that age is not the problem, but they work for one of the few organisations that truly treat employees equally.

Of course, once we have been unemployed for some time, we are forced to attend special programs that are designed to help us find work. Sadly, these work programs do little to help us in that respect and most people see them as a waste of time.

What unemployed people over 45 really want is the same chance as everyone else to get a job. Unfortunately, our CV's tend to reveal our age, because we are listing relevant jobs that may go back many years. This should be an advantage, but in this world, where we are forced to list our experience on a CV containing just 2 pages, our true worth is hard to display.

I have found that many of the people attending these other job clubs have the perfect combined experience to set up their own business, but just need a little guidance to put these talents to good use. Setting up your own business is not always as expensive as you might imagine and in many cases costs nothing at all. Quite often all you need is a good advert and that is where we can help as well. We can also provide assistance in helping to find funding (if necessary).

Initially, I hope to attract sufficient funding for this new service to offer members free help and look for government funding later. But there are many ways in which to finance this project later and this is something that will be considered as the project develops.

The first step of course is to get this service up and running, so I am looking for help through the Crowdfunded site. If you can help by donating something towards the cost (whatever you can afford), it will be very much appreciated. Even if you are not in a position to help financially, you are welcome to register your interest by sending an email with your name and location. I would also be interested in receiving your comments about this new service and any suggestions you have that may appeal to others.

Thanks for taking the time to read this message, I look forward to hearing from you soon. A link to the Crowdfunded site and video can be found in the column on the right.

Yours sincerely,
