Kimi Raikkonen wins Turkish Grand
Prix to close lead on Alonso
(21.08.2005)
Kimi Raikkonen won the first Turkish Grand Prix today and moved
closer to Fernando Alonso who currently leads the drivers table.
This was Raikkonen's fifth victory of the season and put him 24
points behind Alonso with just five races remaining.
Michael
Schumacher, who had to start in second last place, never really got
into the race. After a minor collision with Mark Webber he was forced
into the pits and his race was over from that point. Hedid try returning
to the race, but eventually retired before the end.
The race was fairly uneventful, but did see quite a high number
of tyre problems. Button put in a good race and in the early stages
had the pleasure of passing both Ferrari's in the space of two laps.
The final result was:
1) Raikkonen
2) Alonso
3) Montoya
4) Fisichella
5) Button
6) Trulli
