Russell Crowe agrees settlement
with New York Hotel worker
(26.08.2005)
Russell Crowe has made an out of court settlement with the Hotel
worker who was hit by a telephone thrown by Crowe.
The actual amount of the settlement has not been revealed, but
according to rumours it was less than half a million dollars.
Whilst
this removes one hurdle for the actor, he still has to overcome a
criminal trial in September and faces charges of second degree assault,
and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon. If found guilty,
he could receive up to 7 years in prison. However, we understand that
he is working on a plea and this could mean just a fine.
The phone throwing incident happened when Russell Crowe became
annoyed that he was unable to call his wife from the Hotel room. He
was so angry that he took the telephone from his room and threw it.
The phone hit the Hotel worker and caused minor injuries.
