Osama bin Laden comes to Bush's
rescue again?
The CIA confirmed that the voice on the tape was indeed that of Osama bin Laden, but in response to the offer of a truce White House spokesman, Scott McClellan, said "We do not negotiate with terrorists". This of course is not completely accurate, and the Bush administration have been doing deals with "terrorists" for some time (many of them helping to torture suspects sent to their countries by the US). Like many others, we are naturally wary of any threat of an attack by Osama bin Laden. Not because we think he might actually do it, but that he might be blamed for it (again). It is almost certain that he allowed himself to take the blame for 9/11, even though he played a very small role in the attack, and has been rewarded with a "safe-house" on the borders of Pakistan/Afghanistan ever since. Has Osama bin Laden been brought out of retirement to help Bush again? The Bush administration have been desperately trying to find a good enough excuse to attack Iran, but the opportunity has not presented itself as Iran have always managed to keep the "talks" going to avoid a military option. Although the talks have dried up somewhat, the possibility of a military option is still a long way off (officially). Bush and the gang know this and the only way to speed up their plan is for a new 9/11 to happen. An attack on the US, no matter how terrible, would not be sufficient, it has to be connected to Iran in some way. The Bush administration have been promoting the idea that Iran provides financial backing to Al-Qaeda for some time, with the help of much of the Bush supporting media. Israel and the US have stressed the dangers of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon and the "attack" may take this form. The fact that Iran do not appear to have a nuclear device, and are unlikely to obtain one for some time, may be of little importance once the Bush propaganda machine steps up a gear. But will the American people fall for this trick again? Perhaps the Bush administration are not too worried whether people believe it or not (it hasn't stopped them before) and what do they have to lose? Bush is getting ever closer to an impeachment, Cheney is heading towards a fifth, and possibly fatal, heart attack, Rumsfeld is not getting any younger and the government is falling apart. Time is no longer on their side. Vice President Dick Cheney dropped an interesting hint of what might be when he said that the tape served as a "good reminder" that a "serious threat" to the United States remained. Cheney used the bin Laden tape to say that the Patriot Act was a vital tool that should be extended and added "There are reasons why we haven't been attacked in four-and-a-half years...It's not just dumb luck" Indeed it is not, very few countries have the ability to attack the US because of its location and certainly none in the Middle East. The only way is for the "terrorists" to have inside help (as they did for 9/11). The only reason there have been no further "attacks" is because none were needed. 9/11 gave Bush the opportunity to win a second term and allowed him to invade Afghanistan and Iraq. But the benefits from 9/11 have all but dried up and the only way to regain this support (maybe) is to have another one, and this is where Osama bin Laden may come to the rescue!
Should another terrible "attack" happen on US soil, don't be too quick to accept the guilty party that Bush presents you with, things are not quite what they seem. If you are told that Iran are connected to it, just stop and think who benefits the most from that. If bin Laden is financed by Iran, would he really want to bring that much heat on them? Who else is looking for a reason to drop a few bombs on them? Do you have a comment to make on this article or other topics? Visit our Forum and post your opinion now. News Feed |
