Al Gore Nobel Peace Prize winner - What next?
October 14, 2007

Al Gore "Polar Bears"As many people had already predicted, Al Gore picked up the Nobel Peace Prize, which he shares with the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), following his involvement in Global Warming issues and his Oscar-winning documentary "An Inconvenient Truth".

There are perhaps just as many who will question whether Al Gore deserves the Nobel Prize, and have the honor of joining a list of winners that include the likes of Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa.

Whilst there is a surprising number of people who still have some doubts about Global Warming, an even larger number question the actual cause. To simply accept that man is behind the climatic changes we are experiencing is irresponsible, and much more research is required before we all follow that path.

Some have suggested that the Sun may be creating the problem, and this should certainly be considered. But my theory is that we are passing through an area of our galaxy that contains cosmic rays, capable of heating up not only our planet, but all the planets in our solar system. Very little publicity has been given to the fact that our entire system has been affected, and this clearly indicates the problem is not entirely due to pollution.

Could it be a coincidence that the last time our Solar System passed through this area of the galaxy (which it does every 250 million years), the planet also experienced much higher temperatures and sea levels? Is it possible no one has checked this possibility, or does someone know and they are not telling?

In the book "Global Warming - The Final Solution", which supports this theory, it is suggested that the real cause is known, but this information is being kept from us because of the devastating effects we will face. Should history repeat itself, and we return to the climate that existed 250 million years ago, sea levels could increase by a staggering 100 meters! And you don't need to be a scientist to figure out what that means.

Maybe the book will turn out to be a very accurate prediction of what is to come in the not too distant future and warrant a Nobel Prize as well? But to be honest, I would rather see the "truth" being revealed before that happens, because very soon it might be too late, and much more "inconvenient".

And what of Al Gore's next step, will he enter the presidential race as some of his supporters believe he should? Although Hillary Clinton has obtained a respectable lead over her rivals (both Democrats and Republicans), her earlier support of the war in Iraq will remain like a stone around her neck. Her success is almost entirely due to the natural dislike voters have for the Republican Party and George Bush, and the only two people that could change that are Ron Paul (also a Republican) or Al Gore (if he decides to run).

Gore has made a dramatic comeback onto the world scene since being "robbed" of the presidency in 2000 and often introduces himself by saying "I used to be the next president of the United States". But will he risk his new found popularity by returning to the political arena? I think not, but he is probably finding the temptation a difficult feeling to resist.

On a positive note, Al Gore has helped to highlight the potential problems of Climate Change, but I hope he keeps an open mind on what is causing it. Our planet faces what could be the most catastrophic period humans have ever experienced in the next 25-50 years, and we will need leaders that have vision, compassion and honesty to help some of us survive this most difficult of times.
